Canadian Citizenship

Find out if you qualify and apply for Canadian citizenship. We can help you apply for Canadian citizenship or renew or receive a citizenship certificate.

To qualify for Canadian citizenship, the following criteria must be met:

  • Permanent Resident Status: Irrespective of age, citizenship applicants must hold valid permanent resident (PR) status in Canada. Verify your PR documents to ensure eligibility before applying for citizenship.

  • Residency Requirement: Applicants (including certain minors) need to have spent at least 1,095 days (3 years) physically present in Canada within the 5 years preceding the application date.

  • Tax Compliance: For 3 of the last 5 years before applying, you should have filed Canadian taxes, if required under the Canadian Income Tax Act.

  • Citizenship Test: Individuals aged 18 to 54 at application must pass a citizenship test, covering Canada’s history, values, institutions, and symbols, as well as the rights and duties of citizenship.

  • Language Proficiency: Demonstrating adequate English or French language skills (speaking and listening) is mandatory for applicants aged 18 to 54. This requirement helps ensure successful integration into Canadian society.

Additional considerations include:

  • No Recent Criminal History: Applicants must not be under a removal order or facing criminal charges in Canada or abroad, and should not have recent convictions that may impact eligibility.

  • Intent to Reside: While you don't need to remain in Canada after receiving citizenship, at the time of your application, you should have the intention to live in Canada.

Understanding these requirements is crucial for a successful Canadian citizenship application. Our services can guide you through the process, ensuring all criteria are comprehensively met.
